Windows Vista - what will happen?

What will happen with Windows Vista?

Looking in the crystal ball I see the following:

Windows Vista is a pretty, toy-filled computer “operating system” that will attract a lot of users. These will mostly be home-users as Enterprise and corporate users need a computer that “Just Works” - they don’t need “Oh! Pretty!”.

These early users are the same users that love to download “free” (aka: pirated) music and movies, and when they find out the limitations of Windows Vista in using these illegal files, I’ll bet many try to downgrade back to Windows XP, and a few will switch to Linux to avoid these limitations.

Then the users that don’t keep themselves busy with music and movies will find that some will have hardware problems, some will have stability problems due to the draconian amount of DRM (definition here) that Microsoft has injected into Windows Vista.

I have seen other articles on Windows Vista stating things such as this version of Windows will be the “death knell” of Windows and I have to agree. So long to a bad operating system with the pretty face that made computers popular to the general public.
