Large screen - wasted

One of my technicians brought up an interesting point today.

Today he say a client using Internet Explorer as his web browser with 6 ‘toolbars’ and the ‘favorites’ sidebar on a 21″ monitor.

This of course leaves one with about 14″ of viewable space to display webpages in, and my technician just can’t understand the reasoning for this.

But wait!

Isn’t Microsoft doing the same thing with the new Windows Vista I asked?
(Windows Vista Screenshot from Microsoft.) He sighed…

Hm… Get a large screen, lose more ground. I can see it now - 8 toolbars, favorites sidebar, and Windows Vista - you’ll need a 40″ large screen monitor to display a 19″ browser window.
