Hard drive space problem?
Hard drive space vanishes so quickly that many people buy external hard drives for more space. Many times this is not needed.
External hard drives will still be used up by your computer, just like the internal drives.
Most likely you are are using Windows on your computer. Windows XP has four uses for your hard drive before you ever get to storing music, documents, etc. on it.
1) Hard drive space equal to 2-3 times the amount of your RAM is used for Windows itself.
2) 10% of your hard drive is used by the Recycle Bin.
3) 10% of your hard drive is used by the System Restore process.
4) 10% of your hard drive is used by the Internet Explorer. (The only non-user of external hard drive space, and also a major liar in it that it uses space way past it’s set limit.)
There goes over 30% of your hard drive space. Now you know why you need an external hard drive… (External hard drives are great for backups by the way!)
