Quickbooks “support”

When is support damnation? When it involves Quickbooks.

We had a situation where a payroll update was attempted on a Quickbooks data file, and the result was two years of data were lost and the Admin password was changed (possibly back to the password used at the time of the last data repair which was two years ago.)

Of course there was no backup, and so Quickbooks tech support guys hands were somewhat tied as they tried to get the stupid thing to do an update and/or recover the file. All along of course telling us that an update “can’t change a user pasword.” It can if it rolls the file back two years…

However, we ended up uninstalling Quickbooks, re-installing it, formatting the drive and re-installing the O/S (WinXP) and still could not recover the data.

So, on to trying to use it.

After the payroll update trashing the file, the user HAD TO PAY INTUIT TO HAVE THE PASSWORD CHANGED so he could get into his file again. Why? “Because that’s a different department.”

And to top that off, the user sat on tech support hell for over an hour and a half before Quickbooks “tech support” decided to mention that oh, yeah, “you have to use Internet Explorer to upload the file to us.”

Great. They already added insult to injury. Now we have to open the Internet flood gates in order start a repair.

Moral of the story:
“If you have to use Quickbooks, make bloody sure you have a DAILY backup, because if you don’t, you will be injured by Intuit’s ‘tech support’, you will have to pay Intuit for the pleasure of having them repair a file they screwed up, AND they will ensure that you have no security in order to get your file repaired.”

Intuit, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways - ok, that’s all of them.

    HELP!!!
It takes 8-12 mintues to build a single report in QB on my co-worker’s
computer. On my computer it is only takes 1 mintues tops and thats only for
balance detail reports. We are on a network on maybe 10 computers, I don’t
understand how one computer can be so slow to build reports and one computer to
be so fast, or fairly fast. It takes 8-12 regardless if I am in QB while she
is, or if any of the other computers are on. Did I mention the QB tech support
is in India and that they read the manual to me and don’t know how to answer my
questions?????? Please a real answer would be appreciated. One preferrably
that does not include copying my QB files to my desktop for the 20 th time,
cause thats all that India tells me to do.

    Thank you,
    Lauren
