Microsoft lowers its pricing

Microsoft has been pushing with little success their Window Media Center or Window XP Media Center product, which is basically Windows XP with even more multimedia toys (I know, had to imagine…)

So this year they have decided to lower the price from above Windows XP Pro to in the middle of Windows XP Home and Windows XP Pro. However (you knew this was coming right?) there are a couple of gotchas.

For one, you cannot connect to your office network’s server running this operating system. Window Media Center is a HOME USE system and not intended for office networks.

Secondly, your computer administrator will be Microsoft. Meaning that they can do whatever they wish with your computer. And by running Window Media Center you will be the effect of Microsoft’s version of Digital Rights Management or DRM.

The problem with this is that Microsoft has been legally busted for piracy multiple times, which makes this whole situation akin to trusting the wolf to watch the sheep.

No thanks!
