New DSL modems

In trying to keep multiple computers off of their connection, some ISPs are now providing modems that have built-in PPPoE and DHCP server software.

They are still calling these devices modems (which is a joke to any experienced technician) and the DHCP range is limited to _one_ IP address.

To date, 50% of the Linksys routers have had trouble working with these connection devices, but a simple Linux firewall with a switch will circumvent this problem nicely. Which is interesting given that the Linksys units run an embedded version of Linux.
